Water Science and Technology Association Discusses Five Years Business Strategy
The gulf based Water Science and Technology Association conducted its Board of Directors Meeting in Manama last Friday. Eng Ali Reda Hussain chaired the meeting attended by its members from the GCC. The meeting discussed preparation of the strategic plan of the Association, which is to be publicized soon.
Preparations for the 9th Gulf Water Conference scheduled to be held during 22 - 25 March 2010 hosted by the Sultanate of Oman was also discussed. The Chairman of the Scientific Committee presented his report regarding the latest developments in receiving scientific papers for the sessions of the Conference.
The conference and exhibition constitute among the basic activities of the association apart from conducting various training courses and workshops in GCC countries. The ninth Gulf Water Conference is to be held in Muscat under the banner “sustainability of water in the GCC” - the need for social, economic and environmental definition, in cooperation with Municipal Ministries of the region, Water Resources in Oman and the General Secretariat of the GCC. So far, the scientific committee has received around 120 scientific papers and their evaluation is under process to select the best related to the key topics discussed at the conference.
The key topics to be discussed in the conference are: 1. Planning and sustainable management of water resources 2. Sustainable management of groundwater and surface water resources 3. Sustainable management of municipal water sector 4. Sustainable management of desalination sector 5. Sustainable management and reuse of sewage water 6.
