  • WSTA organized the First Gulf Water Conference in the period 10-13 October 1992 in Dubai, UAE, under the theme “Water and Development in the Gulf Region, Challenges of the Nineties”. The conference was attended by 300 participants and following the success of its first conference, WSTA decided to organize this Regional conference biannually alternating in one of the GCC countries as follows:
  • The Second Gulf Water Conference was held in the period 5-9 November 1994 in Bahrain under the theme “Water in the Gulf, Towards an Integrated Management”
  • The Third Gulf Water Conference was held in the period 8-13 March 1997 in Sultanate of Oman under the theme “Towards Efficient Utilization of Water Resources in the Gulf”.
  • The Fourth Gulf Water Conference was held in Bahrain, in the period 13-19 February 1999, under the theme “Water in the Gulf, Challenges of the 21st century”.
  • The Fifth Gulf Water Conference was held in Doha, Qatar, in 24-28 March 2001, under the theme “Water Security in the Gulf”.
  • The Sixth Gulf Water Conference was held in Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, in 8 – 12 March, 2003, under the theme “Water in the GCC… Towards Sustainable Development”. The conference was held in concurrence with The Second Symposium on Water Use Conservation in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
  • The Seventh Gulf Water Conference was held in the period 19-23 November 2005, in Kuwait under the theme “Water in the GCC- Towards an Integrated Water Resources Management”.
  • The Eighth Gulf Water Conference was held in the period 3-6 March 2008 in Bahrain under the theme “Water in the GCC…Towards an Optimal Planning and Economic Perspective”.
  • The Ninth Gulf Water Conference was held in the period in Muscat, Sultanate of Oman under the theme “Water Sustainability in the GCC Countries-The need for a Socio-Economic and Environmental Definition”.
  • The Tenth Gulf Water Conference was held in the period 22-24 April 2012 in Doha, Qatar under the theme “Water in the GCC…Water-Energy-Food Nexus”.
  • The Eleventh Gulf Water Conference was held in the period 20-22 October 2014 in Muscat, Sultanate of Oman under the theme “Water in the GCC States…Towards an Efficient Management ”.
  • The Twelth Gulf Water Conference was held in the period 28-30 March 2017 in Manama, kingdom of Bahrain under the theme “Water in the GCC …Towards an Water in the GCC...Integrated Strategies ”.
  • The Thirteenth Gulf Water Conference was held during the period 12-14 March, 2019, in the State of Kuwait under the theme "Water in the GCC...Challenges and Innovative Solutions"
  • The Fourteenth Gulf Water Conference was held during the period 13-15 February, 2022, in Riyadh, KSA under the theme "Water in the GCC...Challenges and Innovative Solutions"

  • “Operation and Maintenance: Performance Problems Workshop”. The second workshop was held during 24-27 August, 2003, in Amsterdam, Holland.
  • “Capacity” Building workshop. The third workshop was held during 1-2 December 2004, in Bahrain.
  • “Environmental Impact Assessment workshop” This workshop was held in collaboration with Abu Dhabi University during 3-4 April 2013, Abu Dhabi, UAE.
  • WSTA has organized a regional training course on "Water Footprint Assessments for GCC and Arab countries", held at the Arabian Gulf University (AGU), Bahrain from 20-22 April 2015. The course was jointly organized and supported by AWARENET, the Arab Integrated Water Resources Management Network, a Cap-Net regional network for capacity development in sustainable water management, the Arabian Gulf University (AtGU), the Middle East and North Africa Network of Water Centers of Excellence (MENA NWC), United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (UN ESCWA), and Cap-Net UNDP.
  • WSTA held a seminar on “Consumption of Bottled Drinking Water in GCC Countries” in the State of Kuwait on January 9, 2020. The Seminar was organized in in partnership with the General Secretariat of the Gulf Cooperation Council, the Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences KFAS, and the Kuwait Institute for Scientific Research KISR, with the support from the Arab Fund for Economic and Social Development.
